I remember reading somewhere about an actor whose face was a cameraman’s delight. One could shoot her from any angle and the results were always breathtaking. She was one of those lucky ones endowed with camera-friendly features. Then there are those whose pictures have to be shot from certain angles to make them look good. I am one of them.

I learnt this long ago but did not know what to do about it. My first portfolio shoot taught me a lot. It was a learning experience. I noticed how the photographer went about adjusting lights and asking me to pose from certain angles. With dollops of makeup and professionalism put together my pictures came out brilliant.

Technology has changed manifolds since then. Now the cameras have inbuilt features to edit a photograph to perfection. But one thing which no camera can provide is honesty and authenticity of expression. The camera cannot make your smile reach your eyes. Neither can any feature help you bring out the right emotion. You have to work upon it. So whether your face is camera friendly or not, the right expression can make or break the results. Camera cannot be cheated.
